Chef Hat - How To

Hello Kitty Chef Hat
Hello Kitty Chef Hat

I made this Chef hat to match with apron I made for my DD. It's size is adjustable, fitted well with kids heads from small kids to big kids (even me..yes I tried it too.)
I searched through internet for idea and instruction, I  designed to (kind of) follow instruction on SkipToMyLou, it is very clear step by step instructions but I didn't print it out, also made the hat after midnight ( waaay passed my bed-time)  So I missed some steps, like it's neat and finished seam between hat-top and hat band. I learned from my mistake, I'll remember this if I made the hat again.

Here is my (missed steps) version of chef hat

Material and Measurement

  1. 20" x 20" Hello Kitty fabric -> cut to circle 19" diameter
  2. 8" x 27" blue fabric for hat band
  3. 7" x 26" iron on Interfacing
  4. 2" x 4" blue fabric for gab between  hat band
  5. 0.75" x  4" Velcro (only had that long on hands)

Instructions:

1. Fold 2" x 4" blue fabric in haft lengthwise, then fold in another 0.5" on both sides to make bias tape.
2. Sew the bias tape around the edge of circle.

Kid's Adjustable Apron

My daughter started to show interest in helping me in the kitchen, especially when I made her favorite breakfast, pancake and she got to have couple chocolate chips after she helped me put them in the batter (maybe that is why she liked to help haa). Even though she created more mess for me to clean up but we had good time together. I made her an apron to keep her clothes (somewhat) clean, she can also wore the apron when she played with her kitchen set- that was a plus.
The apron is inspired from cami in creatingbycami, I use my own measurement and changed couple things; using elastic  for necks strap to fit for bigger and smaller child's head, made its 2 in 1 apron, so kid can ware both sides, longer waist strap and Velcro so its adjustable, should be able to use for the next couple years. This apron would be good for children from 3 to 6 year old.
